National Indigenous Languages Day

National Indigenous Languages Day is observed annually on March 31st in Canada to honor, celebrate, and promote the revitalization of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis languages. Established in 1989 by the Assembly of First Nations, this day highlights the urgent need to protect these languages, which are critical to Indigenous identity, culture, and worldviews, many of which are considered at risk.

Visit National Indigenous Languages Day: Preserving Identity, Culture, And Community to learn about the many ways Indigenous Languages are being revitalized.
