October is a time to honour the harvest, express gratitude for our families and communities, and celebrate the cultural strengths, language and traditions. Let’s acknowledge our connection to the land and give thanks.

Celebrate the changing season by recognizing the abundance of the land, local harvests, and the people who contribute to community well-being. Activities can include:

  • Sharing circles of gratitude; with children, parents/caregivers, and staff
    • Create a bulletin board or calendar for sharing expressions of gratitude
    • A gratitude jar with blank notes/pens set up at the entrance of program
  • Community feasts; attend with children and families
    • Traditional foods and harvesting teachings
