The Ministry is launching a public consultation on proposed regulatory amendments under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA). These proposed amendments are part of the government’s ongoing work to strengthen health and safety in child care settings across the province.
While the CCEYA sets out comprehensive requirements designed to ensure child care in Ontario is safe and high-quality, recent tragedies have shown that there are areas where stronger safeguards are needed. Subject to government approval, the proposed changes would address these gaps, strengthen standards and support proactive measures that will keep both children and staff safe.
Through this consultation we are seeking input from licensees and applicants, educators, families and other sector partners. Your feedback is essential in ensuring that any new or amended requirements are effective, practical and aligned with the needs of children, families and staff.
The consultation is now live, and we encourage you to review and provide feedback through the Ontario Regulatory Registry. We also encourage you to share this information broadly with families and staff so that they can provide feedback as well.
The last day to provide feedback will be May 1st, 2026.
